We have been following the progress of this whisky, created by Andre Otto and Riaan de Jager, from its new make infancy to its obscure emergence as a full blown single malt whisky.... Tweedronk Single Malt Whisky Distilled 24 Oct 2009 Bottled 27 Oct 2012 Matured In A 25 Litre Brandy Cask 52% Bottle no.20 of 22 This nose is a dessert banquet fit for a Scottish king....Stewed red berries with a sprinkling of raisins, sultanas and vanilla, chocolate coated strawberries with a side plate of brandy snaps, ginger spice and molten dark toffee sauce. A little thin on the palate but the huge, bold, red fruit marinade and peppery spice more than makes up for the lack of body, with a finish that is warm and grapey, cabernet style. A splash of water opens up the fruit, offering prunes and sweet dates on the nose and sweetens the berry potjie on the palate. 85 A hugely impressive dram for one so youthful. Well done guys, you should be immensely proud of this one...
